On May 2, Ambassador Guo Haiyan and H.E.President Dr. Irfaan Ali, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, Minister of Health of Guyana, attended the Sod Turning Ceremony of Guyana Regional-Hospital Project at Plantation Bath, Region 5. Hon. Nigel Deonarine Dharamlall, Minsiter of Local Government and Regional Development, Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud, Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Hon. Sonia Savitri Parag, Minister of Public Service, Mr. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, and representatives of local government and relevant enterprises participated. This regional hospital is among the 6 regional hospitals contracted to the Chinese CAMCE-Sinopharm Consortium.
In her remarks, Ambassador Guo Haiyan points out that health cooperation is an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative, and is one of the highlights of the cooperation between China and Guyana. She believes that through sincere cooperation of both sides, the Six-Regional-Hospital project will be completed on time with high quality, becoming new landmark health infrastructure in Guyana. Ambassador Guo stresses China is willing to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields with Guyana, create more mutually beneficial and win-win results, and better benefit the two countries and their peoples.
