China and Guyana enjoy the traditional friendship of a long history. The Chinese is one of the six major ethnic groups in Guyana. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, with the joint efforts of our two sides, We have witnessed great progress in China-Guyana relations, with deepening political mutual trust, expanded economic cooperation, and steadily growing bilateral trade. Chinese enterprises have invested in many fields in Guyana, including minerals, commerce, catering, forestry, agriculture, fishery, and participated in the construction of many major engineering projects.
In July 2018, China and Guyana signed the Memorandum of Understanding under“Belt and Road Initiative”, which opened a new chapter in the development of China-Guyana relations. Under the framework of BRI initiative, our office will work closely with all parties concerned to release the potential of China-Guyana cooperation and deepen pragmatic cooperation in all fields to achieve mutual benefit and for the welfare of our two peoples.
